Russian demand for polyvinylchloride and products made from it is breaking all records. Through the stimulus provided by the construction industry, demand is spiralling, says the German Office for Foreign Trade (bfai, Cologne / Germany;
www.bfai.de). Consumption rose from 485,000 t in 2004 to 569,400 t in 2005 and, by the end of the first half of 2006, this had jumped to 391,900 t according to the Moscow -based market research company, Creon. Russian consumption of PVC in the whole of 2006 will be at least three times as high as it was 2000.
